COMPETITIONS
Photography – The most significant photograph of a contemporary work of art
WINNING PHOTOS (2009)
SUBJECT:
An international photographic competition – associated with the Biennale's 53rd International Art Exhibition Fare Mondi/Making Worlds – aimed at professional photographers accredited by the press office at the 53rd Exhibition, for the most significant photograph of a contemporary work of art on display at the Fare Mondi/Making Worlds exhibition.
AIMS:
The idea emerges from the desire to reward the most significant photographic depiction of a contemporary work of art within the context of an exhibition with such a vast and complex layout as that of Fare Mondi/Making Worlds, in order to promote photography – at a moment in which it reproduces a work of art – as artistic expression itself. The most significant photograph, send to fotofaremondi@labiennale.org will therefore be chosen not for its iconography, that is for what it “shows”, but for its intrinsic and specific beauty and for its aesthetic qualities. The Regulations give details about rights.
JURY:
Comprising 3 experts in photography
PRIZES:
A Biennale di Venezia plaque to the most significant photograph and a parchment from the Biennale di Venezias to the two next most significant photographs. The 3 prize-winning photographs and othersconsidered particularly interesting will be online at www.labiennalechannel.org. Special merit mentions by the jury are also possible.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS AND AWARDS CEREMONY:
6 November 2009 in Venice, at 12.00 a.m., Ca' Giustinian, San Marco.
